Surf's
up on the north bay of Vallarta!
 While
Puerto Vallarta and the entire Banderas Bay (‘Bay
of Flags’) is full of beautiful sandy beaches,
the real action for surfing is on the North side of
the bay beyond Bucerias.
Warm water, a variety of surf breaks, and and gentle
winds that are usually offshore make the Punta Mita,
Mexico area an ideal surf destination. You’ll
find over 20 breaks from Bucerias to the end of the
point. Take your choice from zippy little reefs to
the perfect point breaks to fun beach breaks. The
option of boat use usually insures that there are
uncrowded waves somewhere on the coast area here.

It’s been said that the town of “Mita”,
as it is commonly known, is an ideal place to learn
if you’ve never been on a board before. It boasts
small, steady waves just off the small town, and a nice
selection of beach restaurants when you come ashore.
You’ll find several very friendly vacation rentals
and a Bed and Breakfast as well. |
| Further North, the picturesque tropical fishing village
of Sayulita Mexico offers a laid-back surfer's paradise.
There are two surf spots in Sayulita; a right (longboard)
break in front of the village and a left (faster) break
in front of the campground. Hike through tropical mountains
which lead to secluded beaches or walk endlessly on
the miles of prestine beaches which surround the Village. |
